Axence NetTools

Thanks to modern technology, administrators can monitor a website or a computer network, without any difficulties. Axence NetTools incorporates a good number of network tools, which can be quite useful in many situations. It allows you to monitor the activity of one or more websites, perform traceroutes, view a remote computer's inventory and much more. If you are maintaining a website or a computer network, this program will ease your work.

Axence NetTools is freeware, but you still have to register and wait for an activation key. It works on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and various Server editions. The installation file is 36 MB and the setup procedure is straightforward and easy.

The software's tools are organized on different pages, which can be accessed via navigation buttons, on the top area of the user interface. All pages have similar layouts. You can specify a web address, DNS name or IP address in the upper left corner of the window and click a button, in the same area, to display a wide range of information, in the larger area, on the right side of the interface. A series of tweaks can be made in a small panel, on the left side of the interface.

Experimenting with the program's functions should not be difficult. In most cases, typing an address and clicking a button is sufficient to retrieve the information you need. For example, you can add one or more websites to a watchlist, on the NetWatch page, by typing or pasting their addresses and clicking the Add button. Additionally, you can choose to ping the website or monitor a certain service, before adding the website to the watchlist. Traffic statistics and other details are displayed next to each website and as a color coded chart.

It is also possible to set up a series of alerts, on a separate window. The software can watch for certain events and react in different ways when they occur. Depending on your settings, if a website is non-responsive for a certain number of minutes, the program will display a message, play a sound, send you an email notification and so on. You can make other similar settings, on the same window.

If you master one of the program's tools, you will not have any difficulties with the others. Obviously, you will find different statistics in the larger area of the interface and different options, but everything can be started just by specifying an address and clicking a button.
